Duron Carter crosses centre line, Josh Bell takes exception, Carter retaliates

Riders receiver Duron Carter crossed the centrefield line during pre-game warm-ups at McMahon Stadium on Saturday night.

Stampeders defensive back Josh Bell made sure to push him back on the proper side.

Carter was fined for the pre-game altercation and retaliated by delivering a questionable block on Bell during game play.

That’s his second fine already this season after he was fined for a particularly nasty play in the Riders 43-40 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Canada Day.

During a second quarter interception return by the Bombers T.J. Heath, Carter grabbed the face mask of Winnipeg linebacker Sam Hurl, twisting him around 180 degrees. Carter, somewhat unbelievably, was not penalized on the play.

Carter has instigated in the past. While a member of the Montreal Alouettes last season, Carter was suspended one game by the league after bumping Ottawa Redblacks coach Rick Campbell near the sidelines after scoring a touchdown.

The Alouettes eventually released Carter after a practice altercation with quarterback Rakeem Cato and he signed with the Riders in January.
