American defensive back Brandon Stewart has signed a one-year deal with the Alouettes, per sources.
The 31-year-old cover man has been in the CFL for 10 seasons and played for four different teams (Stampeders, Bombers, Ticats and Lions). In 125 games Stewart has made 300 tackles, 68 special teams tackles, 13 interceptions, scored four touchdowns, recorded three sacks and three forced fumbles.
Most recently the Eastern Arizona product suited up for the B.C. Lions in 2016. He saw action in 17 games making 64 tackles and 1o on special teams. Stewart was released on May 1 by B.C.
Montreal defensive back Johnthan Mincy suffered a concussion against Edmonton – which likely made an opening for the experienced Stewart – and reportedly won’t play Thursday when B.C. comes to town.
