Ticats place REC Terrence Toliver on six-game injured list

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have placed receiver Terrence Toliver on the six-game injured list.

Toliver was hurt on the Ticats first possession in the season-opening loss to the Toronto Argonauts.

It has been reported that Toliver has suffered a torn ACL, though he initially refuted that on Twitter.

The 28-year-old has played two seasons with the Ticats and had his best year in 2016, making 65 receptions for 1,036 yards and nine touchdowns despite playing in only 13 games.

He signed a contract extension with the team in February.

At 6-foot-5 and with experience in the Kent Austin offence, Toliver will be difficult to replace for a team already missing Canadian Andy Fantuz. Options include newcomers Damarr Aultman and Jalen Saunders as well as veteran Junior Collins.

In other injury news, Canadian defensive tackle Mike Atkinson, who missed week one due to injury, was back with the first-team defence. Halfback Abdul Kanneh, who missed much of training camp and the opener, returned to practice but did limited work.

The team also added defensive back Ethan Davis from to the practice roster from the injured list.

The Ticats, who were on a bye last week, returned to practice on Monday and face the Riders on July 8 in Regina.
