Ticats Terrence Toliver out for the year with torn ACL

Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Terrence Toliver has suffered a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season, per sources.

Toliver was hurt on the Ticats first possession in Sunday’s season-opening loss to the Toronto Argonauts.

The 28-year-old has played two seasons with the Ticats and had his best year in 2016, making 65 receptions for 1,036 yards and nine touchdowns despite playing in only 13 games.

He signed a contract extension with the team in February.

At 6-foot-5 and with experience in the Kent Austin offence, Toliver will be difficult to replace for a team already missing Canadian Andy Fantuz.

The Ticats are on a bye this week and don’t play again until July 8 in Regina.
