All-star LB Bear Woods touches down in Toronto

Linebacker Bear Woods flew to Toronto Monday night, per sources, a strong indication he could sign with the Argonauts.

The two-time East Division Most Outstanding Defensive Player was released by the Montreal Alouettes at 5:30 a.m. Monday morning. Signing with the Argonauts would reunite him with general manager Jim Popp, who originally brought the 30-year-old into the league back in 2011, and head coach Marc Trestman.

Woods, 30, is coming off a season where he racked up a career-high 126 tackles in 18 games and added five sacks, three forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Over 40 career CFL games, Woods has 232 tackles, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles and three interceptions.
