Former Ticats offensive coordinator Tommy Condell will be the Toronto Argonauts’ receivers coach next season.
Condell was hired as a special advisor in late January after the team fired general manger Jim Barker and head coach Scott Milanovich resigned to take a job with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. He was charged with helping the team through free agency, along with assistant general manager Spencer Zimmerman. But his status was uncertain following the hiring of new general manager Jim Popp and head coach Marc Trestman last month.
Condell resigned suddenly from his post with the Ticats last April, citing the “best interests of my family.” But the Condell’s maintained their residence in Hamilton and there was chatter around the league that tensions between Condell and head coach Kent Austin were a factor in his departure. He spent three seasons with the club, coming on board when Austin took over as general manager and head coach in 2013. The two men also coached together for three seasons at Cornell University before joining the Ticats.
