The CFL plans to release 2017 schedule later today, per sources.
That’s good news for fans, who have been waiting to plan their summers.
The season typically begins on or around the Canada Day weekend with a Grey Cup rematch, in which case the Redblacks would take on the Stampeders. But there are a couple of other intriguing possibilities.
The return of Montreal quarterback Darian Durant to Saskatchewan will be a date worth circling, as will the opening of the new Mosaic Stadium in Regina. The Labour Day match-ups – particularly the Toronto – Hamilton and Calgary – Edmonton – are significant, as is the Banjo Bowl between Winnipeg and Saskatchewan the following week. What the Argonauts’ schedule looks like – they have been stuck with some Tuesday and Wednesday games the last few years – will be of interest as well.
