Canadian linebacker accepts invite to Senior Bowl

Simon Fraser linebacker Jordan Herdman has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl.

That’s the top showcase event for senior football prospects in the United States. The Winnipeg, Man. native will go through a week of practice with an NFL coaching staff and play in the Senior Bowl game on Jan. 28, televised on NFL Network at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Herdman was named to the AFCA Division II All-America second team after racking up 113 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his final campaign with the Clan. He was nominated for the Cliff Harris Award, presented to the top small college defensive player in NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA. The six-foot-two, 235-pound defender holds GNAC records with 428 career tackles, 27 tackles in a game and 165 in a single season.

Herdman was not included on the first two CFL scouting bureau rankings lists, but some believe he has the talent to be considered for the No. 1 overall selection in Canada.
