Canadian defensive lineman Junior Turner tore his ACL in Calgary’s 2016 Grey Cup loss to Ottawa, per CFL sources.
The 28-year-old is under contract with the Stampeders through the 2018 season, but the knee injury could cause him to miss most, if not all, of the 2017 campaign. Turner started nine regular season games, the Western Final and Grey Cup at defensive tackle in 2016, recording 17 tackles and two sacks in those contests.
The Bishop’s product was selected in the second round, ninth overall during the 2011 CFL Draft by Calgary. In five seasons prior to 2016, Turner played in 74 games making 115 tackles, 10 sacks and forcing a fumble while turning into a national mainstay on the Stampeders defensive front.
