Darian Durant out for Riders final regular season game

Barring unexpected changes, Darian Durant will not play for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 20 when the team heads to B.C. Place to play the Lions.

The 34-year-old started 15 games for the Riders in 2016, throwing for 3,839 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading the green and white with 308 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 57 carries. Durant’s camp and Saskatchewan are in talks to extend his contract. It makes sense for both sides to keep the franchise pivot healthy and out of a meaningless game.

Mitchell Gale, G.J. Kinne and Canadian quarterback Brandon Bridge will all get snaps. Jake Waters is out with a broken collarbone.

There is plenty on the line for the Riders’ opponent: if B.C. wins the Lions lock up the number two seed and a home playoff game in the West semifinal.
