CIS leading receiver Mitchell Baines added to Riders negotiation list

Ottawa Gee-Gees receiver Mitchell Baines was added to the Saskatchewan Roughriders exclusive negotiation list on October 4, per CFL sources.

The fifth-year senior leads the CIS in receptions with 55 and receiving yards 871 through seven regular season games. Baines’ eight touchdowns are second among all Canadian university pass catchers.

The 24-year-old Ottawa native had 33 catches for 546 yards and seven touchdowns in 2015 for the Gee-Gees. Baines attended the 2016 Montreal Regional Combine where he ran a 4.67 40-yard dash recorded a 29-inch vertical, 9-foot, 1.5-inch board jump, 7.27-second three-cone drill and 4.31-second shuttle. He went unselected in the 2016 CFL Draft.

Saskatchewan currently has Canuck receivers Rob Bagg, Nic Demski and Shamawd Chambers on the active roster and Joshua Stanford on the practice squad.
