Why are there no answers in Saskatchewan?

What now, Saskatchewan Roughriders?

They are still playing, aren’t they? The Roughriders — don’t they have some CFL games remaining this year? The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for another wunderkind to handle their prestigious franchise and the Kansas City Royals won the World Series by never quitting, so isn’t this when the Roughriders usually start preparing for the playoffs?

Why is everybody around here talking about the NFL? Isn’t Saskatchewan a CFL market? What the heck happened to this franchise? To this league?

How bad did the Riders look Saturday, when they lost 42-19 in Calgary?

Who’s the Riders’ starting quarterback? Who is Keith Price?

Didn’t they have somebody named Brett Smith looking like a potential replacement for Darian Durant? What’s that — Durant told the media he will be a better quarterback next year? Is that realistic, after missing most of the past two seasons with torn tendons?

How many players will be back next year? How many deserve to return from a  team that has lost all its heart and a record-tying 15 games?

Who’s their head coach? Does anybody think Bob Dyce will soon stop being the interim head coach and become the fulltime head coach? Really?

Who’s their general manager? Jeremy O’Day? Is it true that some people think he’s the best person for the job, while others say he’s the worst person for the job?

Why would any sports franchise appoint an interim general manager? From the moment Brendan Taman was fired as their general manager, shouldn’t the Roughriders have hired a replacement? Despite some decent trades made by O’Day, haven’t the Riders been in limbo, just floating around in hyperspace, making absolutely no progress because nobody is in charge?

Who’s going to hire the new general manager? Has president Craig Reynolds hired anybody before?

Who’s available? Can you really think of anybody who’s available and who would truly want that job right now?

Do the Roughriders visit the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday? Did you say that both teams missed the playoffs? Do you think anybody else will be watching?

Darrell Davis has reported on the Riders for more than 20 years and was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame media wing in 2006.
