Alouettes to make bid for 2020 Grey Cup: report

The Montreal Alouettes are planning to put in a bid for the 2020 Grey Cup according to Montreal Gazette reporter Herb Zurkowsky.

Montreal last hosted the CFL title game in 2008 when the Calgary Stampeders beat the Als on their home turf 22-14 int he 96th edition of the Grey Cup. More than 66,000 packed Olympic Stadium to watch the Stamps victory.

The Alouettes have been out of the playoffs for a franchise-record four straight seasons, but maybe, just maybe, by the time 2020 comes around – if the team is awarded the right to host – Montreal might be in a position to legitimately compete for a spot in the game.

In the meantime, Montreal will go up against Saskatchewan and Hamilton who are also interested in hosting the Grey Cup that year.
