Slam Dunk picks: Nothing meaningless on the betting board

Even though three of the four games on the CFL board in the final week of the regular season will have no impact on the standings when money is on the line all are important.

Toronto Argonauts (4-13) at Ottawa Redblacks (10-7)
Friday, November 2, 7:30 p.m. EST

The Argos have yet to win a game on the road in 2018 going 0-8 but that was against teams competing all out for a victory. Ottawa is resting many regular starters while Toronto is fielding a full compliment.

Keep it simple.

Line: Redblacks favoured by 6 points
Pick: Toronto
Bet: $22 spread returns $20

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-7) at Edmonton Eskimos (8-9)
Saturday, November 3, 4 p.m. EST

Mike Reilly and the Eskimos have a chance to prove that the report of Jason Maas potentially losing the locker room is, indeed, complete BS by performing on the field.

Line: Eskimos favoured by 5.5 points
Pick: Edmonton
Bet: $22 spread returns $20

Montreal Alouettes (4-13) at Hamilton Tiger-Cats (8-9)
Saturday, November 3, 7 p.m. EST

Many pundits have forgotten Hamilton whooped Montreal in Johnny Manziel’s first CFL start, 50-11 – the Ticats know the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner intricately from Manziel’s time in the Hammer.

The Ticats essentially chose Dane Evans over Manziel and the 24-year-old should perform well after being in June Jones’ offence for over a year now.

Jones won’t want his group entering the playoffs losing three straight.

Line: Ticats favoured by 6.5 points
Pick: Hamilton
Bet: $22 spread returns $20

Calgary Stampeders (12-5) at B.C. Lions (9-8)
Saturday, November 3, 10 p.m. EST

It’s all on the line for Calgary: win on the left coast and the West is won.

Calgary just can’t lose four in a row.

Line: Stampeders favoured by 7 points
Pick: Calgary
Bet: $24 spread returns $20

Season record against the spread: 37-27-2
Money line: 4-3
Teasers: 2-1
Over/under: 0-1
