Bombers receiver carted off the field, returns to stadium via cab

Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiver Kenbrell Thompkins, who was stretchered off the field early in Saturday’s Banjo Bowl against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, took a cab back to the stadium and returned to the sidelines – in full uniform – after being examined at a local hospital.

According to TSN sideline reporter Sara Orlesky… well, why don’t we just let her tell it?

“We saw him get stretchered out in that first half, very scary moment. We knew that he would be evaluated at a local hospital. One of our TSN crew members saw him getting out of a cab, returning to Investors Group Field still in his full gear and that’s what he remains in on the sidelines,” Orlesky said. “The organization says he is done for the day.”

That’s a pretty cool story, and play-by-play man Rod Black put his particular spin on it…

“He will forever have a new nickname… Duane Forde?”

“Kenbrell ‘Taxi’ Thompkins.”
