Green Cast: hot dogs, a loss in Edmonton and TO

Joel Gasson decided to let John Fraser return to the 3Down Green Cast for Pile O’Bones Brewing this week after last week’s guest host Justin Dunk violated the show’s rules by drinking a smoothie during recording.

This week, Joel and John discuss proper hot dog condiments (it is a bye-week afterall) after a tweet from the one and only fakeGainer got CFL Twitter going. If there’s one thing CFL Twitter loves, it’s a good food debate. Joel also shares his thoughts on ketchup, which John thinks might be the hottest take on the show yet.

In actual football stuff, Joel and John talk about just how good the Rider defence is, how the offence cost them that game in Edmonton. They also share their thoughts on the reported signing of defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy and Chris Jones appearing at a work out with recent pro-football hall of fame inductee Terrell Owens.

In their look around the league, Joel and John discuss Johnny Manziel’s and McLeod Bethel-Thompson’s respective CFL debuts. Spoiler: one went well, the other did not.

It must drive 3down crazy when the riders are on a bye week and they have to discuss hotdogs to keep things interesting. They look at the schedule ahead of time and go ok boys here are the rider bye weeks we gotta come up with something it’s going to be a slow week.
Well the stamps are playing somebody, oh forget it let’s stick to the hotdog story .

This is a 3DownNation product or a Riders fans product?

I thought it was the latter.

Well side rider!! 3down only talks about Hamilton and Riders. The other teams specially out west are a after thought or fill in material. As for HOTDOGS
over the passed 10 years very little to talk or comment on Riders or T Cats. Kind of nice!
NOW what to you like on your hotdog?? Beer!

Tend to agree with the comment that Jones has no idea what he is doing with the team roster 2 weeks from now.

Nice job Joel. I’m beginning to swing the pendulum back to not minding you. Latley you finally see what I see. This John, the car salesaman, which is not a real job, is way over the top on his Jones opinion. He would cower if he said his comment to Jones face.
Bagg and Grant made mistakes last year veterans shouldn’t, at key times. Bakari on celebration to early and also dropped passes in preseason this year, and Bagg was injured, again, as well he stepped out of bounds on an easy catch in the East final on a deep ball when he lost track of where he was. Bagg could easily of adjusted. Holley an Stanford can do just as well. So far they had mostly, a useless Bridge. Which led to Owens. Well he may or may not come in but he doesn’t make those mistakes in game. At 44 he’s better than a lot of 34 year olds. You worry about next season after this season. He also worked out a couple other guys in Tennessee while he was home.
Jones knows what he is doing. I said all along Collaros will make the offence better. I’ve said that from preseason. The defence will get stronger like last year and they have. The turnover in the CFL is always high. For the future, it’s not like you can have 15 guys waiting, and as others get better you lose them financially to free agency. You sign some as well and maybe a couple young guys step in from year to year. It’s not like MLB baseball John, or building a young hockey team. Football team building is different. It’s a consistant culture and philosophy. It takes time, especially the mess Jones inherited.
Your opinions are yours, I don’t always agree, but thanks for the podcast. Have a good week boys.
