Johnny Manziel picked off four times in opening half of CFL debut, Twitter lights him up

Johnny Manziel’s second CFL pass was caught but by the other team, not the start Johnny Football envisioned to his Canadian career.

Manziel completed 9-of-16 passes for 90 yards and four interceptions as Montreal was down 28-0 through 15 minutes and 38-3 at the break. The rough opening 30 minutes lit up social media – Johnny Manziel was trending on Twitter.

Some current and former CFL players weren’t shy to share their opinion on Manziel. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner had four practices before his first CFL start in Montreal.

“He can make plays, but he’s got to be smart with the football,” head coach Mike Sherman told TSN at halftime.

Manziel has certainly thrown s%** load of interceptions.

  1. lol what is funny is that clown area 51 thought he was a decent qb 😀 But i have many friends who watch the nfl on a weekly basis they all know that johnny football is the most overrated qb in the past 10 years, thats saying a lot cuz there have been a lot of overrated qbs in that time frame in the nfl….johnny manzella will never be a competent qb.

    • Hard to judge based on tonight. Never should have been starting. There were signs of talent there and he can really break contain. More time recognizong defenses will help. As well, that is a horrible team. If he started for hamilton it could have looked better. I see potential. Wait if Arse51 likes him i change my mind 🙂

  2. But you’ve forgotten Jamarcus Russell, the qb who could supposedly throw a football 60 yards while on his knees

  3. I heard they put Al Bundy on their negotiation list last week, he did score 4 touchdowns in a game once.

Bob, that was the big game against Polk High where Al Bundy scored four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Manziel still has never, ever learned a playbook at any level including back in college.

Once again his big plan was to run around, then toss up jump balls for Mike Evans, his big receiver who saved his sorry azz every week back in college.

Except Evans is earning his pay in the NFL, so he isn’t here to keep bailing out his sorry ass.

  4. The CFL is not a professional sports football league just because it pays contract (minusule) monies. Its a place where 9 irrelevant organizations from 6 irrelevant provinces play Up North Bush Games irrelevant to anyone outside its borders.

    • and this is why u know nothing of the cfl.

    • Right, itty. Go back to your bottle.

You want to talk about “irrelevant”? How about someone who shows up over and over on a CFL site just so he can trash said league… THAT’s the meaning of irrelevant, friend, and that’s YOU. Go watch old replays of your favorite league or something, you know, keep it irrelevant, okay?

    • CanuckDomer // August 4, 2018 at 2:53 pm //

So irrelevant you are commenting on it…go back to your bottle, rummy

    • You have to be from Toronto. Your quote, ” irrelevant to anyone outside its borders”, gives it away. So desperate to be noticed by the US, so desperately requiring their approval. Try being Canadian instead and not needing a pat on the head and being told, we see you, we see you.

My buddy sitting beside me ..
He was involved with his gf roommate doing coke and was a train wreck while in Hamilton. And apparently his girlfriend was doing favours with a few “friends ” good luck Montreal lol

  6. This is just another episode of the Kavis Reed horror show. Current record 4 wins, 21 losses. Sponsored and brought to you by Andrew Wettenhall. We all know how it’s going to end.

I’ll be Noel Thorpe is thanking his lucky stars, even after giving up almost as many points in their 4th quarter as the Als did in their 1st. He saw where the Kavis Reed horror show was headed, and bailed. How Kavis keeps getting high-level jobs, I have no idea. They got rid of him in Edmonton just before he almost destroyed that team… only to get more glorious opportunities. Go figure.

Hey Texan, Where are you???? Big Mouth Dumba$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Just awful. Awful. And the excuse making from Suits and Black is pathetic.

  9. Nice unanimous I heard stuff like that too ….lol

  10. Good point, Luc Mullinder.. Kavis Reed?

Just another so called NFL star to bomb in the CFL. They have no clue what they’re up against.

  12. To be fair he also showed flashes of truly top tier ability. He’s going to have to find the balance, and to the things with his legs that he was doing but not be too aggressive with his arm. Provided he doens’t have some kind of mental meltdown after this game I can see him becoming a very good QB in this league.

It’s true ben I know every
One and I am the roommate

  14. BigRedMachine // August 4, 2018 at 1:05 am //

The guy had absolutely no blocking. Made some horrible decisions but did show flashes. Wonder what the trading price was for him before the season?

  15. As I’ve explained numerous times, John Manziel is a trash QB.

If you’ve watched him play at the NFL level, this should have been obvious.

Mediocre arm, pisspoor accuracy, too dumb to read coverage, and way too reckless with the ball.

Doesn’t matter how many weeks or years he sits on the bench to “learn” – – because those aren’t things that can be learned.

  16. WTF is with the excuses for John Manziel?

All of his INTs were cartoonishly bad. The kind of performance you’d expect from a YMCA rec league QB trying to play at the pro level.

Not surprised a career loser like Kevin Glenn or a washed up cheap shot puss like Fatty Lewis would be the ones leading the excuse train.

    • But I LOVE his sorry ass. He’s the best QB I know. And I keep telling everyone who will listen
