Chris Williams toasts Riders’ Duron Carter

Duron Carter getting burnt at defensive back is becoming a theme.

Chris Williams ran right by Carter for a long catch and run major.

On the next series, Carter took an unnecessary roughness penalty after knocking down an under-thrown Drew Willy pass intended for Williams. If the throw was on target Williams would have burnt Carter again. Maybe Williams watched the film from Week 2.

In the third quarter, Williams blew by Carter for a 47-yard gain as Jeff Mathews delivered the ball which brought the speedster to 130 receiving yards against Carter.

Williams clearly brought the butter because it’s getting toasty at Mosaic Stadium.

Regardless of Duron’s ability to play corner; he was awful because he let his true colors shine through yet again, twice. This guy is a selfish narcissist. The riders are better without him. There is a pic on twitter from the other day of several riders at Famoso pizza. They are all sitting together with a long row of tables at the back, but Carter is at a separate table. Do you think this guy is liked by his teammates?

    • I have to wonder if Chris Jones set Duron Cancer up to fail on purpose. Maybe to humble that giant ego a little. Make him grow up then move him back to where he is one of the best. I dislike Jones and how he operates but I respect how he runs that team. He reminds me so much of Don Mathews when he was in BC. Always the unexpected and odd going on, very entertaining.

  2. Can everyone finally acknowledge that Duron Carter is a terrible CB?

On top of his incompetence, he’s too dumb to realize that he can’t play bump and run against a professional receiver with the kind of speed that Chris Williams has.

And then to compound the disaster, Carter again shows what s selfish prima donna he is with asinine personal foul penalties.

I am sorry Rider fans…please forgive me. I have a serious mental illness and am on medication. I will be ok.

    • No need to apologize Stampeding as everyone on 3D nation already new you were on medication. Its when you go off meds that you become entertaining.

Don’t use the word toast negatively, toast is actually good, unlike……….tonight embarrassing performance by the Riders.

  5. Chris Jones claims that he “talks regularly” with the legendary Bill Parcells – – anybody think Parcells would put up with the selfish antics of Duron Carter?

    Not a chance.

Parcels would have stapled Carter to the bench after his first personal foul penalty. But instead of getting control of the situation, Jones continues to coddle Carter.

Then again, Parcells would never do something as dumb as putting a WR at CB.

Or a CIS basketball player at DE. Or a TE at DE.

A game like that by the Riders, “That’ll leave a mark!”

  7. Vintage Williams. We haven’t seen that very much for a while, not like we used to early in his CFL career with the Ticats. But when he lights the afterburners the play is done.

I don’t know what Carter appeared to be complaining about after that 79-yard play. Was he expecting help? Complaining that he was duped? Did the Devil not hold up his end of the deal?? Even if he had received some assistance, there was no way anyone else could have stopped Williams and let Carter off the hook for his own blown assignment.

1 those cool guys from Calgary post like this
2 cater is nota very good db
3 the qb position is so important. The riders don’t have a good starter
4 our coaches need to game plan for the players that they have on the field.
5 boy it will be a long year.

  9. Evil Empire // July 1, 2018 at 3:47 am //

    @Rider fan.
    6. Masoli is going to embarrass Carter/Jones on Thursday.
    7. The DC/HC ( Jones ) of the Riders is a joke for continuing this abomination of an experiment.
    8. The GM ( Jones ) is to blame for not bringing in an actual DB, a QB, or an
O LINE. He’s the worst GM in the league.

This is high comedy, and he is burying that franchise.

  10. For sure // July 1, 2018 at 4:23 am //

What happened to Duron saying that playing defensive back is easy? Is he smart enough and humble enough to have realized that he was wrong there and it isn’t so easy? Probably not. There must be someone that he can blame.

  11. Ticats playing them next week….. time to take Brandon Banks in the fantasy pool!

    • I think Duron Carter is a better DB than Bamks

      • Which is why Banks will never play DB! Carter is clearly NOT a good DB and he even got beat as a receiver by a rookie DB. Best player in the league? Only in his own mind.

      • i think Jim has lost the plot and its Banks ,come back to earth Jim and stop taking whatever your taking

  12. Moncton Ticats fan // July 1, 2018 at 7:31 am //

The Ticats should not take the Riders lightly on Thursday. The Riders are frustrated and will play with reckless abandon in front of equally frustrated fans. Just hope we don’t see any head shots or late hits. What is the story on Messam? Is he injured, or what? Forgetting the outcome of the game for a moment, it was a very important night for all of Sask. and Canada as the victims of the bus accident were honoured. Well done, and quite emotional.

Jones knew of Carter’s reputation before he signed him. His act should be no surprise.

Yes, the player should be responsible for his behaviour…but so should the coach who acquired him.

He got what he paid for.

    • So. now that everyone agrees Carter is a narcissistic a-hat, can Rakeem Cato PLEASE be allowed back in the CFL? The Alouettes need him.

  14. Outwest // July 1, 2018 at 9:53 am //

Lol highlight of the week seeing that big mouth get burned by Williams, just about jumped out of my chair. And he deserves everything he gets in the way of disrespect. Looks darn good in him.

  15. Post game radio shows: Both Sask radio station commentators really hammered down on Carter both as bad DB and his uncontrolled temper tantrum on bad penalties. Yes, these are Rider radio station fans who crapped all over Carter. What does this say to Carter’s lack of performance on a big night for Rider fans? Embarrassing game on “Broncos” special night. They deserved much more. Much more.

  16. Duron smoked again… a tight game his selfish penalties cost them the win…have another Doobie Duron.

  17. David Tress // July 1, 2018 at 11:42 am //

The Roughriders cut defensive backs from their roster then put Carter on the corner when they need him as a receiver. It makes no sense.

  18. Riders should try and trade Carter but no team will respond to trade requests. Maybe they should just send him home. He is ruining the team attitude

  19. Tinhead296 // July 1, 2018 at 3:45 pm //

Mr. Jones: PLEASE end this Duron experiment at corner NOW!! Use him at receiver where he is most needed. 2 games now he has been torched for long TD’s and taken too many stupid penalties. Surely there must be a corner out there somewhere to fill in until Marshall comes back. This team is turning into the laughing stock of the league. Maybe tell Mr. Parcells about your ingenius ideas and I’m sure he will tell you that you have a screw loose.

  20. KingKong // July 1, 2018 at 5:32 pm //

By mid season Carter will be one of the best DBs in the league, he’s too arrogant to allow himself to fail at this position.

    • Tiger man // July 2, 2018 at 10:03 am //

Or be the constant target of every quarterback in this league.

As the TV game show used to say…”you are the weakest link…goodbye”.

  21. Tiger man // July 2, 2018 at 10:14 am //

Chris Williams has not been the most reliable receiver..this is his 4th team in 8 seasons.

His speed, though, is unquestioned. He blew by Carter, the pretend db, like he was a sign post.

Williams would have had two touchdowns that game if the second pass had not been off target. Typical of Carter’s lack of professionalism, he knocked CW down after the play to provide the other team with an unnecessary first down.

Carter’s ego and lack of maturity is going to cost the sliders dearly by the end of the season.

Thank you to those who continue to play him on defense. The other teams will be greatful for the points.
