Drake wears Humboldt Broncos jersey to honour team

Drake showed his support for the Humboldt hockey community Saturday.

The Toronto rapper wore a No. 14 white, green and gold Humboldt Broncos jersey to the Raptors’ opening playoff game against the visiting Washington Wizards at the Air Canada Centre.

Drake, seated courtside, pointed to the sky when he was shown on the jumbotron, to warm ovation from the soldout ACC crowd.

Sixteen people have died as a result of a crash last week when the Broncos’ bus collided with a semi-truck just south of Nipawin, Sask. Another 13 people were injured.

Drake posted a picture of himself in the Humboldt Broncos jersey on his Instagram account which has over 43 million followers and only wanted green and gold hearts in the comments.

More Drake and more Manziel stories, please. Don’t feel these deserving dudes get enough attention from Canadian media.

  2. Right – because Drake showing respect and condolences for those who perished and were injured in a horrific tragedy, are comparable to a manziel story.

Agree with Yup. Certainly respectful of Drake. Surely Manziel must have heard about the tragedy of Humboldt; much of the world is aware of it. Can’t see much in his tweets last week except about his “comeback” t-shirts and hats. Would have been a fine gesture had Johnny tweeted some type of condolence. After all, he may need a job in this country some day.

  4. riders have been supportive. they are not seeking the press like others are. said they will be with them for the long haul not just this week and will respond accordinly

Classy move by Drake for sure.

  6. Drake planned thus very well. What better way to show his support than game 1 at home. The NBA posted their best opening ratings in 5 years, so those who were not aware of the tragedy certainly know now.

  7. Hard not to like this guy.
