Neg list names to be released Tuesday

The CFL will release 10 names from each team’s negotiation list on Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST.

Following the league meetings in January, the CFL announced each franchise would make public 10 names from their neg lists twice a year, once in February and the other in December.

The 45-man lists consist mostly of American players from U.S. pro and college ranks and gives CFL teams their exclusive rights. The first team to submit a name has them added to their list.

While some big names have been made public – see Manziel, Johnny – neg lists have long been secret but that changed under commissioner Randy Ambrosie.

6 Comments on Neg list names to be released Tuesday

  1. What a half-pregnant measure. Just release the entire list. There is no reason not to. Who picks which ten names will be released? The teams or the league?

  2. Interesting to see who Ottawa picked up from the BC neg list when they dealt Willis to BC.

  3. I’d really like to see all the names, and the time to sign a player shortened to 90 days instead of 1 year.

  4. Great move by Commish Randy..

  5. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of. Why is the CFL braintrust so clueless? Neg lists are top secret…salaries are top secret…expansion draft lists are top secret. Here’s a helpful tip for the braintrust – – you WANT people to be discussing the league as much as possible. Cut the secrecy.

  6. Probably only names released will be college QB’s and college all-stars. Let’s see if any team has the guts to name free agents who can activate a 10 day window right now.
