Ticats re-sign LB Larry Dean

Hamilton has re-signed linebacker Larry Dean.

Dean had a stellar 2017 season for the Ticats making 96 tackles, three sacks and forcing three fumbles while playing in all 18 games. Two years in the Hammer has seen the 29-year-old 174 tackles, five sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception.

The Valdosta State product went unselected in the 2011 NFL draft but signed a free agent contract with Minnesota. He spent three seasons with the Vikings, one in Buffalo and another in Tampa Bay amassing 37 tackles and one forced fumble.

Dean was an East all-star in 2017.

Cats have resigned everyone that was truly important by the end of last season. Great stuff!

  6. 2018: THE YEAR OF THE CATS!!!!!

Early FA present, thank you Cats!

  7. Great signing! They signed his backup too – Shorthill. Now find a good F/A SAM linebacker, and let Kanneh go back to halfback. Laurent could still be back, but it’ll take a pay cut.

  9. I guess no other team put in a higher bid

  10. The “bidding” begins at noon today, Joe. Up until then players re-sign with their team, or go to free agency. There’s no bidding right now. (10am)

3 players signed and thats it Austin

  12. Time difference. Duh. Sorry

  13. Maybe a good signing and maybe not… Ticats struggled at times to stop the run… that’s on the DL and MLB… and with the current roster we have yet to win a Grey Cup…

Just saying that maybe some changes would be better than status quo…

  14. Great signing! But why only 1 year?

  15. Lots of players are signing short term contracts because the CBA is up soon. The scope of player contracts will probably drastically change with a new deal. Snake I think all Cats fans would be upset if we lost Dean. Cant blame him for all of the run coverage. The guy is a beast and will only get better.
