Stampeders sign former Ticats DB Emanuel Davis

Defensive back Emanuel Davis has signed a one-year deal with Calgary, per sources.

Davis was released after a down season in 2017 for the two-time all-star. He missed the first seven games with a hamstring injury suffered early in training camp, played in six games, then was a healthy scratch in the last fives games of the season after defensive coordinator Phillip Lolley replaced him in the starting lineup. The 28-year-old has played five CFL seasons, all with Hamilton and has 10 career interceptions.

  1. Great DB thought Montreal would go hard after him

Training Camp / PR fodder? Not sure I like this signing, to be quite honest. Hopefully he comes cheap. We need a good replacement for Hughes, which I don’t think I’ve seen come down the pipe yet.

  3. George – Davis can be a great DB if he can return to his 2015/early 2016 form. Injuries hampered him last season but the talent is there. Looks like a good signing by the horses!

BC – Maybe they did but he preferred to sign with a team that can be competitive and is likely to make the playoffs again.

  4. Emanuel Davis is a winner. Huff knows his stuff!
