Canadian receiver and returner Nic Demski heads to Winnipeg

Nic Demski is going back home.

The Winnipeg native has signed with the Bombers.

The 24-year-old had 26 starts in three seasons with the Riders, who drafted him with the sixth overall pick in 2015. Demski made 69 catches for 725 yards and three touchdowns while returning 84 punts for 729 yards and one touchdown plus a long missed field goal run back of 93 yards.

Demski looked poised for a breakout year in 2017 before injuries forced him to miss the last nine games and he was limited to 19 catches for 222 yards. Still, he was considered one of the top Canadian talents on the free agent market.

  1. It’s going to be a real treat watching Harris and Demski doing the Hardick hop at IGF next year, welcome home!

Congrats to this Kid. I hope he breaks out at home.. It’ll be a treat for him to play at home.

  3. NO WAY the guy is a $130,000 player, not even close. Way way overpaid.

I was a little surprised at the $$ amount but if he plays the way he did the first few games last year, the Bombs will be laughing.

So, 5 million cap, 42 man roster… average salary: 119,000
Premium for Canadians… especially if they can start.
Maybe it’s too much, time will tell, but I don’t see it being that ridiculous. (and yeah… I know… you pay your #1 & 2 QB 3 to 5 times that, but you also pay a lot of people, esp. rookies & non-star Americans the min, which I think is around 40-50k)

      • So, 46 man rosters, plus practice roster players, plus players on the IR except players on the 6 game list. The salary for those 6 games on the list does not count against the cap.

    Tampering! CFL should be investigating!

Well Bomber fans, get used to the hip and head moves by Demski that go no where. He tries that shuffle the head and hips and no one has ever bit on it, its a high school move.

I think he’s got some tools. If he can stay healthy, his game will mature.
Hey Blue Management? Ok… you got your little marketing campaign with the hometown Oak Park boys in Blue & Gold. Can we sign a decent MLB now? Please? And perhaps a shut-down corner too??

I agree. He frustrated me w the Riders but maybe his game just needed to mature like you say. Likely if he’d stayed healthy last year, I’d have alot more praise for him as it would have been a great year for him. This will likely be a great pickup for the Bombs looking back at the end of next year. Even tho everyone saw it coming!

      • Talk about overpaid!! // February 13, 2018 at 1:38 pm //

he wasnt a starter in sask, in fact Bailey was better than him. He has been injured every year so dont hold your hope he will last a full year in the Peg. Even if he did, he just doesnt have the real good hands and doesnt run good patterns like a Rob Bagg or a younger Fantuz. Not for that kind of money!! That is over the top money for a guy who has not proven anything.

  6. Does the $130K include the 30K signing bonus or is it 160K including the signing bonus?

    No surprise here.

  8. Juke&JiveFor1Yard // February 13, 2018 at 1:59 pm //

If you don’t let him return kicks or punts, and just limit him to slotback duties, he’s a threat. A little overpriced and delicate though.

  9. Good signing, if the amount paid doesn’t cost them a stud MLB.

injury prone and doesn’t run good routes. you can have
him. Has yet to play a full season without being hurt.5

  11. Would of liked to seen him resign with the Riders , but agree with the post regarding the $$ amount IMO he is NOT YET worth that amount . He has potential only time will tell if it was a right/good move for the bombers. Riders have a number of very good suitable replacements for him : Sanford, Ranford, Picton but most likely will be Bailey who is cheaper and has comparable age/better physical measurements and is a more pure WR.
