Jonathan Rose re-signs with Redblacks

The Ottawa Redblacks have re-signed international defensive back Jonathan Rose to a one-year contract extension.

Rose was set to become a free agent on Tuesday.

Rose recorded 53 defensive tackles and two interceptions in 2017 and in 33 career games with Ottawa has 108 tackles, three interceptions and a sack.

“It’s important to retain good football players while providing continuity on the defensive side of the ball,” Ottawa general manager Marcel Desjardins said in a statement.

3 Comments on Jonathan Rose re-signs with Redblacks

  1. Rose has played consistently well at corner for the Redblacks. Great to see he’s signed for 2018.

  2. Thinking Noel Thorpe asked Marcel for two good cover corners who can play on the island without help. Rose can be one of those guys and hoping there’s enough loonies left to get Mitchell White for the other corner. Tindal and Baltimore can play inside.

Marcel has done a pretty good job of retaining the core of his team.

  3. I agree Handler. Ottawa is in very good shape heading into free agency with a lot of key signings already done. Great job Marcel.
