Alouettes close to re-signing Fulton and Bede: report

Montreal is closing in on getting two of their own pending free agents under contract, according to TSN reporter Dave Naylor.

Fulton signed with Montreal last season after being released by Hamilton playing in five games for the Alouettes. The 31-year-old has spent six seasons in the CFL with the Riders, Ticats and Als.

Bede had a bounce-back season in 2017 connecting on over 82 per cent of his field goal tries (29-of-35) while punting the ball for a 44.2 average. The Laval University product handled all the kicking duties for Montreal and earned a raise for 2018.

Montreal needs new players at every position. I cannot think of a single position on offense where they did not have a player who could be replaced by someone better. They have given away all their best players on offense and defense, much oin the way that the Montreal expos did toward the end, seeding the rest of the league. And so far very quiet in FA.

Only solace was when the SK Alouettes played the Toronto Alouettes in the eastern final last year. Only guaranteed win for Montreal.

  2. Two good signings. They need K.Hebert back too

There close there not signed yet, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a QB ?

Josh Freeman was a starting Wuarterback with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for three seasons. He MIGHT be the answer. They will need to be patient with him though, while he learns the Canadian game. Beyond that, they have two youngsters: Matthew Shiltz and Antonio Pipkin, who had solid College backgrounds. They could still be in play for Johnny Manziel too.

  6. Bede is over rated. Not the greatest field goal kicker, and as a punter – shanked quite a few, and his length of punt consistently has not been impressive.
