Johnny Manziel may not be welcome in XFL

Johnny Manziel seems to be down with the XFL but Vince McMahon may not want Johnny Football in his new league.

Vince McMahon held a press conference to officially announce the re-launch of the Xtreme Football League. Manziel tweeted as it was happening.

Manziel responded to Pat McAfee, the former NFL punter turned Barstool sports entertainer.

But in response to a question about Manziel, Tim Tebow and Colin Kaepernick being invited to play in the league, McMahon said players with a criminal history – and Manziel was involved in an incident of domestic violence – would be excluded from playing.

“When I said the quality of human being is very important and just as important as the quality of the player what I mean by that you want someone who does not have any criminality whatsoever associated with them,” McMahon said. “In the XFL, even if you have a DUI you will not play in the XFL. That would probably eliminate some of them, not all of them.

“If Tim Tebow wants to play, he could very well play.”

  1. 2 years away anyway. I see Manz playing in the Austin Spring league and selling more Tshirts on line. He may still play in the CFL after that but either be in great shape or injured.

  2. Lol…How big of a douche do you have to be when Vince McMahon won’t have anything to do with you?

I can see a weak Cat mgmt group doubling their initial offer despite this simply to increase season ticket sales. After all, its a lot easier to sign one former college star with issues than find, develop and sign talent in several positions. A more astute group would use the cap space available to strengthen the team they have now rather than risk a Manziel dressing room epidemic in 2018 that could make the 1H of the 2017 season look stellar in comparison.

  3. McMahon didn’t give a crap about criminality when he was doing everything possible to protect his #1 babyface from a murder investigation.

  5. This site is completely and utterly demented about this Manziel.

    • This XFL purity clause must only refer to players and not to Mr Mcmahon . Check his record of rapes, assaults etc.

So they really are going to have punt-protectors in the XFL?
