CFL names divisional all-stars

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced the 2017 East and West Division All-Stars today. The Toronto Argonauts lead the way with 10 all-stars and the Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers lead the West Division with seven each.

The Division All-Stars were selected by members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches.

During the offseason, the Football Operations Committee, comprised of team General Managers, approved alterations to the All-Star positons. In years past there were two running backs and four receivers; that has been changed to one running back and five receivers. Defensively there used to be three linebackers, and now there are two linebackers and a cover linebacker.

The East Division All-Stars were selected by the voting members of the FRC from the East Division markets, the National Chapter and the East Division head coaches.

The West Division All-Stars were selected by the voting members of the FRC from the West Division markets, the National Chapter and the West Division head coaches.

Ballots for the final round of CFL All-Stars voting will go out on Thursday. The CFL All-Stars will be announced in early December.

  1. The next change that needs to be made for the All-Star teams is including a special teams coverage player.

  2. How about playing the game in a market there trying to get a franchise in!

  3. Yes lets play the game now

  4. being an als fan, i do have to agree, two guys that played their hearts out, big john bowman, kyries hebert, two of the oldest guys on that terrible team, now we know why only two made the list. wow i am amazed for sure. and believe it or not, these two all star football players won,t be next year. unbelieveably, how a class organization can go down the tubes so far in three years. thats why i always go to the cats game, i am truly thankful that the cats gave up on anthony cavillo. thank you hamilton for giving us those championships.

Pretty great that the entire O-line on the east is all Canadian.

Jefferson over Ja’Gared Davis don’t know about that

I heard jefferson lead the league in combined sacks/qb pressures. And he doesnt have a micah johnson or a charleston hughes alongside him on the d line to take some of the pressure off. Jefferson is more than deserving of the western all star honour.

Davis plays 18 like Jefferson he blows him out of the water.

Its much easier to have your motor full throttle when you only play half a season. And like I said, look at who he shares the d line with. Jefferson would be double teamed a hell of a lot more times than Davis would be.

  8. i can see calgary winnipeg havint 7 all stars, maybe, but toronto with 7? give me a break they are a god awful team!
