  1. Sounds like he gets along with June OK.

  2. Sounded like a good press conference? Couldn’t really hear Kent Austin’s voice that clearly? Could hear the media’s questions louder. Don’t know if it was the audio from Telus or my cell? I will have to go to my desktop or read about this in the paper. What I could hear of it, sounded as if Austin is returning. So maybe I DON’T want to really hear it!

I like Austin as a man but I think he had rubbed too many people the wrong way and has become a stumbling block for the team moving forward The players need a change in order to truly believe again.

“in touch with him (Manziel’s agent) frequently” … reading between the lines … sounds like Kent is waiting for league approval (and the deadline they provided) to make an offer.

  5. There is certainly a disconnect between Drew’s story and Austin’s.
We’ll soon find out which version is closer to the truth.

    • Yes that is how I saw it as well. Although, there was not really a denial by Kent that anyone said those things. He just brushed it off as players being angry about a bad season, which is a rational way to address the issue.

I found it particularly weird and it was an uncomfortable fact to add when Kent said “Speedy just texted me this morning…” Why add that in?

Boy did he ever not want to be at that podium today. it was obvious. According to Austin every name brought up to him he has a great relationship with, talks to them all the time.
The BS meter was definitely twitching.

  7. LOL he HATES Drew Edwards. It’s so damn obvious every time Drew asks a question. He barely even looks at Drew. He’s always been like that with him. Funny to see it again, after a long while of not seeing Kent being asked questions.

  8. Hmmmm..seems like things are safe with his job.time will tell

sound like he’s not leaving to me

    • Of course not, just because some players don’t like him doesn’t mean a thing.
The grumbling players have a choice to move on, they can leave thru FA, retire or ask to be traded or released.
The team finished pretty good this season but most players will be gone next season.

If JJ comes back an$ Austin is still in his position, why would FA’s not sign? It’s not like Austin will be on the field and it sure sounded like JJ made all the personnel issues as related to who was on the field. I don’t understand the whole “not coming back if Austin is here” issue. Other than contract negotiations , which are handled by agents, what could natch does a player need to have with him go8ng forward?

  11. Masoli and Banks will be wearing Als uniforms next year.
    Fantuz retires

  12. Poor Kent, he looks like an old, beaten man.

  13. Austin is about Austin and has about as much integrity as the hack reporters Edwards and Dunk !!! Trash individuals deserve each other hope Austin stays with the Cats for the next 50 years !! Garbage begets garbage !!!

  14. This is just typical press with nothing better to write coming up with a story that will make waves. I don’t see poor Kent looking beaten, I see a man fed up with made up bullshit. As for Banks texting him he obviously doesn’t need to say what was messaged but I’m sure it was Banks explaining his words were twisted or taken out of context. In a 9 team league you don’t bad mouth anyone, you don’t burn bridges. Look at Colin Kaepernick, he pissed off some of the right people in his actions and words and now he can’t get a job. I found a lot of the questions and articles slanted this season and that will happen when you start 0 and 8 and are out of the playoffs.

  15. Here’s a question to ponder: Will Drew be back next season?

Kent had a lot of time for Milty’s questions, but Drew’s obviously in the KA Dog House (again)!

  16. Kent Austin is not in a popularity contest he is running a football team.He has done a good job with this team so far. With a team there is always ups and downs. The coach always takes the brunt of the fans anger when the team loses so nothing has really changed.Liked the common sense of most posters on this thread.

  17. I think the Austin era is over. The Cat’s will probably buy him out.

    • That is certainly NOT the impression that I got from Austin’s comments. I agree with Lenny – players aren’t going to have much contact with Austin who is no longer on the field, so refusing to sign because he’s still part of the organization – even if Jones is retained (can’t see why the team wouldn’t keep him) seems a bit like sour grapes to me.

  18. Get the Cats former coach with a ” B ” before Montreal signs him.The players really worked for him.

  19. Great Job Steve on giving The C.T. a little tap on the wrist. We all know from the other rich guy in the states that once adjectives are thrown out into cyberspace it takes an apology to retrieve them.
