Argos LB Bear Woods out for Riders game

Toronto linebacker Bear Woods will miss Saturday’s game against Saskatchewan after being taken to hospital on Friday.

Woods was on the sidelines in street clothes before the game and appeared to look alright.

“We want to make sure he has no internal issues,” Argos head coach Marc Trestman said Friday after the team’s practice.

Akeem Jordan comes off the practice roster and will start in his first CFL game at middle linebacker for Toronto. The 32-year-old has eight seasons of NFL experience making 330 tackles, forcing four fumbles, intercepting two passes and recording one sack.

Farm the Toronto home games to other cities in Canada
You can’t keep showing 30,000 plus games with fans in other centres and nobody show up in Toronto

This will become a joke if it hasn’t already with a CFL marketing nightmare to get USA viewers and a paying audience

    • And how will that help Toronto? The attendance issues at Argo games didn’t happen overnight and won’t be fixed overnight. Good ownership is finally in place, give them a chance to work these issues out.

  3. It is no coincidence that BC, MTL, and TOR are down in attendance and off the league average. Why? MLS in all those cities are killing CFL. What to do? Recruit good players but also celebrities the way LA Galaxy in the MLS made David Beckham the first high salary player. David was a One trick pony Free kick guy but big celebrity. So Griffin, Manziel etal. Expand away from the MLS into cities that can support a CFL team. I would go up to 12 by 2020. At the same time reduce CanCon requiremnts to 4 slowly as teams enter to account for difficulty in finding good Canadian players who don’t go to the NFL. Places to consider are Halifax, Quebec City. Waterloo-Cambridge-Kitchener-London. Make up a name like Golden State Warriors did such as Erie Shore Warriors. Start at College stadium and build one in Woodstock along the lines of a MLS stadium such as the one in Orlando. Put one in Windsor to draw fans from Detroit in summer. And Victoria which is far enough away from Whitecaps and Sounders. New study shows NFl is now least favorite American league. National ratings way off. MLB playoffs way up. NBA starting up now. CFL needs to jump on this with Celebrity players in the Beckham mold and new eams near the Border such as in Windsor, Erie shore, or even Sherbrooke near Vermont Border.

  4. Exactly- thank you
