Thanksgiving weekend brings us football on the holiday Monday and we’re going to put some tidings around that tasty turkey.
Every single game in Week 16 features an interdivisional matchup. West squads are 25-5-1 straight up versus East counterparts through 15 weeks in 2017.
Hamilton Ticats (3-10) at Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-3)
Friday, October 6, 8:30 p.m. EST
Winnipeg thoroughly beat Hamilton 39-12 in the Hammer back in mid-August, but it’s a much different Ticats team since June Jones took over. Thanks to the new energy under Jones, the Tabbies still control their playoff destiny.
It’s a much more important game for Hamilton than Winnipeg and while many expect the Bombers to win, taking the points feels like the prudent play.
Line: Bombers favoured by 12 points
Bet: $11 returns $10
Saskatchewan Roughriders (7-6) at Toronto Argonauts (7-7)
Saturday, October 7, 4 p.m. EST
Saskatchewan stunk for over three and a half quarters in Ottawa, but managed to salvage a victory on a game-winning rouge. That showed the Riders can play poorly and still beat East teams, even on the road.
Chris Jones and his group spent the week in Ottawa preparing and getting them as underdogs provides value.
Line: Argos favoured by 2.5 points
Bet: $10 money line returns $12.50 and $11 spread returns $10
Ottawa Redblacks (5-9-1) at B.C. Lions (6-7)
Saturday, October 7, 7 p.m. EST
B.C. at home, off a bye, needing a win badly are three strong reasons why the dough should be placed on the Leos. Wally Buono’s group has lost the season series to both Saskatchewan and Edmonton meaning the Lions have to finish with one more win than each of those teams.
Line: Lions favoured by 4.5 points
Bet: $11 returns $10
Edmonton Eskimos (7-6) at Montreal Alouettes (3-11)
Monday, October 9, 2 p.m. EST
A new all-star calibre running back in C.J. Gable makes the Eskimos even more potent and the six-game losing streak has taken its toll on Edmonton.
Montreal is a mess.
Line: Eskimos favoured by 7.5 points
Bet: $11.50 returns $10
Season record against the spread: 27-20-2
Money line: 6-3
Bankroll: $226 from $100 starting budget
