Podskee Wee Wee, episode 85

On this week’s show, Mike and I discuss the Ticats loss to the Redblacks way back in Week 9, Kent Austin stepping down as head coach, the trade that sent John Chick to Edmonton, the acquisition of Ricky Collins, Jr. from Saskatchewan and the deal that sent Vernon Adams from Montreal to Saskatchewan. We preview the upcoming Labour Day Classic by talking about some of our favourite Labour Day Classic memories, and we end things by making our weekly CFL picks and by answering three really fun listener questions.

For those that listened to our Art Briles show (and if you haven’t, I suggest you do) you may be wondering what the future of Podskee Wee Wee is. After serious consideration, Mike and I have decided to continue doing the show. We recorded this episode about a half hour after we did our Art Briles-focused episode and once we got back into the swing of things, we found that we still enjoyed talking about football and talking about the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. So the decision was made that we will continue to hopefully provide you with excellent coverage and discussion of the CFL and Hamilton Tiger-Cats for years to come. Oskee Wee Wee, everyone, and I hope you enjoy Episode 85 of Podskee Wee Wee.

  1. With the trade of Chick, and tiger cats record, do you see any fantuz coming back this season? Or do we wait to see what he has next training camp?

Will the number of fans in the stadium after the delay in Hamilton be more than the number of fans in Toronto for their next home game?

After seeing so many injuries on Labour day, how should the Ticats adjust their ratio?

After the midway point who are your winners for the Ticats season awards?

  3. No No No No NO!!! I cannot agree with trading Brandon Banks under any circumstances. You cannot discuss Brandon Banks drop in production on returns without addressing the horrible blocking in front of him. Dennis McKnight has done a fine job with his cover teams, but the blocking on returns has been non-existent. Watch the next time Banks returns a punt. There will be four cover men on screen right in front of him and maybe you might see one Ticat blocker. With every other team in the league, you see three-and-two or three-and-three. The only reason we had any Kick-off return production on Labour Day was C.J. Gable bulling his way through four Argos. How many times have the Ticats been flagged for illegal blocks on punt and kick returns? Not many because their blockers aren’t getting close enough to block anyone illegally, never mind effectively. I’m supposed to ask a question to get on the podcast, so here goes: at what point do we look at the blockers in front of our return man, instead of just blaming everything on the return man?
