Ten-year-old crushes O Canada at Ticats home opener

The Ticats might have a number of questions surrounding the team after an 0-3 start, but anthem singer has been crossed off the list with conviction.

Ten-year-old Sienna Rose Kocsis from Caledonia, ON won a contest held by the club that had 100’s of submissions.

That audition earned her the opportunity to sing Canada’s anthem at Tim Hortons Field for every Tiger-Cats home game in 2017.

Players from both teams came over to congratulate her and her performance caught the attention of a boisterous defensive end out in Edmonton.

Seems like the Ticats have found a bright, talented singer.

  1. She was amazing. Here’s to a bright future.

  2. Highlight of the broadcast!

  3. What a voice coming out of a 10 year old. If she stays with it I expect to see and hear more of her in a much bigger arena in the near future. A job very well done. A small girl with a large amount of talent.

  4. Sienna did a great job and has a wonderful voice. Looking forward to hearing her in person this week! Only suggestion I’d have is to maybe speed up the tempo a bit.

It was an excellent rendition of O Canada by Sienna. Perfect pitch and she handled the demanding vocal range effortlessly. What talent!

Thanks for doing a write up on her Drew. When she finished, you could tell the crowd knew they had heard something special. But the TSN crew barely said a word about her.I may have missed anything they said before she sang…. but they never even never mentioned her name after that spellbinding performance. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one wondering who she was. The fact that she won a contest would have been a great piece of colour at kick-off time.

I was watching the Anthem on a screen while in line at the concession booth. At first people seemed not to notice; however, as the song progressed more and more people watched and listened. By the end of the rendition, most people in the line clapped- as did many on the concourse. It was an amazing performance by such a young singer.

  7. She was absolutly amazing and should be the new voice of cannada..wow what a great job from such a young girl.

Wonderful voice, but it was a bit too slow.

  9. This was truly an amazing rendition of our anthem, she added flair by slowing it down at certain points. Hopefully she will be a mainstay. I too was dumbfounded that there was no mention of it by the broadcasters.
