Stampeders RB Jerome Messam ejected in Montreal

Canadian running back Jerome Messam was sent to the showers early at Percival Molson Stadium.

Alouettes safety Chris Ackie knocked the ball loose from Messam and it was eventually picked up and returned for a touchdown by Branden Dozier. In the end zone, Messam took out his frustrations, pulling Chip Cox to the turf by the facemask. That led to Calgary’s ratio-breaking ball carrier being ejected from the game.

  1. Love to hear horsiemanures attempt to rationalize this as a ‘ good foorball play ‘

  2. Should be calling for Messums head like he was Carter’s. Sadly he can’t get his head out of his ass long enough to be objective.

Love to see 10 seconds either side of this view then form an opinion

    • BC Dave // July 14, 2017 at 9:19 pm //

Why? What will change? Regardless of what ELSE you see, you will still see Messsam grab a guy (not even part of the play and WELL into the end zone already)BY the facemask and simply pull him down for absolutely no reason other than fulfill his little temper tantrum.

      • GoCats! // July 17, 2017 at 9:55 am //

As much as I agree it was brutal by Messam – Cox did shove him to get under his goat, well after the TD was clearly scored.

There was a reason beyond losing the ball – the issue was the over reaction as well as the face mask.

  4. BC Dave // July 14, 2017 at 9:16 pm //

He was going for a shoestring tackle and missed LOL. Seriously, no excuse for that. Ejection deserved and I would hope a suspension by the league AND the team if they are as high-class as they portray themselves to be. Sorry horse but I don’t think you can wiggle your way out of this so hoping, for your sake, you take the high road on this one.

  5. I’m sure horsie will blame this on Chris Jones

  6. I would have sympathy if it was anyone other than Chip Cox being roughed up – he has given his share of cheap shots over the years.

    • I tend to agree. One has to ask what Chip Cox might have done previous to Messam taking out his frustrations on him. He’s been one of the dirtiest players IMO for years. That being said – just like the Hill incident there is no excuse. I suspect that an additional fine is likely but I doubt there’ll be any further suspension from play.

      • No need to ask … the clip is starting just after Cox gave Messam a hard shove, after Messam has relaxed/is slowing down, well into the end zone where the TD has clearly been scored.

No excuse for the face mask throw down … but definitely an incredibly late shove that successfully goaded Messam.

stampeder goon. disgusting play but typical of this team. likely asbestos poisoning from playing in that junky old stadium

WOW . Interesting on the participation on a stamps win vs a loss. Very interesting. The jealous are out!

    Takeaways

    BIG CROWDS
Like last week in Winnipeg the big crowds follow Calgary. People want to see the best what can you say

    MESSAM NEEDS TO BE SMART
He can’t do that. He hurt us tonight

    PAREDES PROBLEMS
Looks like he’s figured out his earlier struggles 5 for 5 on field goals

    RED ZONE RELEGATION
As good as Peredes was, it’s frustrating watching Calgary put all these great drives together only to fizzle and settle for 3’s in the Redzone

    ————
Full credit to AL’s. A win is a win
You take away the Odiase slip on the Cunnigham TD and the Massam fumble for TD Calgary wins this.
D-line injuries showed tonight. Linebackers saved their bacon a few times but overall it’s weakness really allowed our secondary to be exploited

Calgary didn’t play well, Bo wasn’t sharp nor were the receivers , but all things considered I’m proud with the near victory/barely loss tonight. Normally a team should get buried in that circumstance not the injured plaqed Stampeders

    Big Game Saturday

    It’s about the big picture….17-3-2 !
    Bo 45-8-2

    • RJ Johnson Jr // July 15, 2017 at 1:26 am //

The best team??? Let’s see, they’re not the top team in the Western Division. Hey, they’re not even the best team in Alberta. Ahhh, you must have meant the best team in Calagary. Gotcha

    • BC Dave // July 15, 2017 at 2:09 am //

credit for your near classy/barely tearful response. Personally, I thought you’d be first on again but guessing you’re not used to these and it required some thought. Suggestion…Start practising cuz We are chasing your butt and so are the asks lol.

    • But did you sell out? I don’t think so!!
You sure didn’t touch much on messam? Well he for one could have ripped cox head off by pulling so hard. There needs to be a big fine. Plus a suspension. And if horsie says anything else otherwise. He is a hoppocrite. Calling for the head of players from other teams, but when it happens to his. His mouth is shut. I wonder if that power house team is starting to get frustrated now. Because they aren’t the best in the West lol

    • riderontheisland // July 17, 2017 at 11:11 am //

Hey Horses ass, your kicker isn’t the only one with problems. Again double standards from the jackass because it was a different story when Carter gets fined for his mask grab. BTW Bo hasn’t been sharp for the last couple, or even 2017. Look forward to more reality on Saturday when the Riders get their turn.

  9. Messam is known for his lack of self/control.Other clubs got tired of dealing with a “juvenile.” If Jerome was an import he would have been released a few years ago.Maybe the Stamps should send Jerome to his room for a Timeout?

    • Hors E Power // July 15, 2017 at 10:21 am //

      lolololol
The league is full of Canadians that would be released if they were imports.

    • Hors E Power // July 15, 2017 at 10:36 am //

This is for you rick, its up to you to answer for all rider nation.
When the F has Bo ever blamed the ref’s for a lose. Infact when has he ever blamed anyone but himself? THIS IS JUST ANOTHER MYTH PERPETUATED BY RIDER NATION.
I’m not really expecting an answer because rider fans have a history of hiding when confronted with truth.

      • Nobody is hiding….we all do wish however that you would crawl under a rock and forget how to climb out as you are an idiot beyond help.

      • riderontheisland // July 17, 2017 at 11:14 am //

You are a hypocrite and and idiot. Well the last part goes without saying but I couldn’t resist. Actually they both go without saying, so way to be yourself.

  10. Hors E Power // July 14, 2017 at 10:47 pm //

Messam was amply punished with an ejection.
There is still no explanation why Carter didn’t receive one too. Messam took hos punishment Carter hasn’t and Messam doesn’t have the other issues Carter does (like knocking down helpless coaches)

    • Mmmbacon // July 14, 2017 at 11:07 pm //

this isnt about carter. its about another baby stampeder. Temper tantrum throwing baby. try and focus hors es ass. if it isnt big mouthed babies spoutin off and getting fined, its poor who try and decapitate players because they are poor sport losers. What a disgraceful organization this stampeders franchise is. If only they could make news for good reasons and not for all this negative crap they pull. BUSH LEAGUE!

      • Hors E Power // July 14, 2017 at 11:14 pm //

fine it snot about Carter, Im sure the refs will keep their eyes on the cheating stamps against the angels from Regina

  11. Beginning of the end for this overrated team. Will be another loss in the dung heap aka McMahon after next weekend.

  12. Scottsask // July 14, 2017 at 11:11 pm //

Did Calgary’s o line play well, I missed the second half and it looked like the qb wasn’t under much pressure. 2 baaad pick by Darian tonight too, but still came away with the win.

  13. I would say hollins and the als backed up what he said pretty well, him them in the mouth and him them often. looks like there is now a template for beating the stamps.bo now doesn,t look quite so good .

    • Hors E Power // July 14, 2017 at 11:47 pm //

Still a long season. I think it’s a little premature for stamps to start locker clean up yet.
There is an allstar team waiting on stamps IR. If Montreal needed the help they had tonight in a narrow win what do you think these added players will do to help us????
Look forward to seeing you at the end of September

      • Hors E Power // July 14, 2017 at 11:48 pm //

        In Historic McMahon Stadium

        • 3 things. 1) CFL is still great ball. 2) Refs and the “command center” are something else ! 3) The stumps will likely make the playoffs. Then sh*t the bed like they always do.

        • riderontheisland // July 17, 2017 at 11:45 am //

okay horses ass, enough is enough about McMahon. You need to understand that historic does not mean OLD. That is the only part of the definition that fits, but sorry it’s not enough. There isn’t 1 football person that reflects on historic CFL venues and has McMahon come to mind. No you and your mommy don’t count, sorry.

      • Paul Bomber // July 15, 2017 at 10:49 am //

You know, you attack others with insults, you crow about your team with empty platitudes, but you really never have anything intelligent to say. Keep your handle so it’s easy to skip your comments going forward. And on that point, don’t bother shooting back because I won’t see it.

  14. horsie you just cant comment on ant post without taking a shot at the riders or one of there players and yet you dont say anything about your whining quarterback who will probably blame the refs because it is never beaus fault

  15. Hors E Power // July 15, 2017 at 11:02 am //

when does Bo blame the ref’s???? stop trying to perpetuate yours myths

  16. CFLs Best since 1990 // July 15, 2017 at 4:18 pm //

If CFL officials were any good they’d have noticed it was Cox who initiated the after the play contact. If Cox doesn’t do that, nothing happens. So where was the flag for that? Furthermore, Cox basically put his grill into Messam’s hand… I won’t say Messam didn’t screw up, because he did, but…

…oh, and how about showing the whole play in your gif, from the moment the ball crossed the goal line? Doesn’t the whistle blow in that moment? If you are going to measure the merit of the penalty, it begins there. Messam was 6 or 7 yards into the end zone when Cox suddenly initiated contact. I guess that doesn’t count as a penalty, huh?

    • Quarters 1 through 4 games 1 though 4 …..all inclusive !

    • Hors E Power // July 15, 2017 at 6:16 pm //

Cox did instigate but Messam retaliated and lost his temper. That’s why the penalty happened. Friday night September 29th.. Rematch at historic McMahon Stadium. Massam and the Stamps will not have forgotten last night!!!

      • Seems as though Messam isn’t firing on all cylinders ? If he hadn’t fumbled the rock this post wouldn’t exist. I must say…Messam better dial it in because Finch replaced him just fine

        • riderontheisland // July 17, 2017 at 3:02 pm //

WOW the unravelling in Stumpville has begun at least with the fans. How is Finch getting 26 yrds on 5 carries just fine. I always remove the big play from the stats to see the consistency and 4 for 11yrds is not fine.

    • Mmmbacon // July 16, 2017 at 9:26 pm //

typical of the ‘shit flows downhill” analogy. You are defending your player? Typical of the entire goon of an organization. Is there asbestos or something in that ol relic of a stadium the thug stampeders play in that makes everyone in the organization like this??

    • Unfortunately, while I agree it should be a penalty on Cox – he has been walking the line for years with questionable stuff like this to goad an over reaction.

  17. White Horse // July 16, 2017 at 12:06 pm //

I am surprised of the enormous amount of jealousy towards the Stamps. The rest of the league could only hope to have half the success the Stamps have had over the last ten yrs. As the season progresses and the injuries hopefully decline for the Stamp, then watch out. The war between Calg, Edm, BC will be awesome. Honorable mention to Wpg.

    • Mmmbacon // July 16, 2017 at 9:30 pm //

hmmm. last 10 years the stamps have won the Grey Cup twice. Youre right, otherteams do wish they could have half the success the stumps have had. Oh wait, Both Montreal and Canadas Team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have both won 2 Grey cups as well. So much for any validity you had White horse

      • Lol no doubt bacon, Both the stumps and Roughriders have won twice and been to the show 4 times a piece. But somehow the stumps are the powerhouse still? I think not. White horse knows just as much as horsie. Horsie still didn’t comment from on my last post regarding this exact thing. He goes and hides when the fact hit him in the face.

      • White Horse // July 17, 2017 at 1:20 pm //

MmmBacon…I didn’t say anything about Grey Cups did I?
I said ‘SUCCESS’ that the Stamps have had compared to all other teams in the league. Success then means 2 Grey Cups and either 1st or 2nd every year since 2008. Comprende?

        • CFLs Best since 1990 // July 17, 2017 at 1:50 pm //

Kudos. If they measured the records of every team from 2008-current, every game… who the class of the league has been would be quite obvious. In fact, my name/title reaches back a little further, where the same result would show up…

…the Eskimos “most fearsome team in CFL history” monicker applies to a 5-year window from back in the 70’s. The Stamps record stands on its own not for 5 years, but for the past 27 years. Fact is, Stamps’ fans have enjoyed watching many, many more victories than any of their rivals over a very long period of time. That is what we are referring to, despite the gluttony of argumentative voices on here. Jealousy is definitely a thing.

  18. CFL Forever // July 16, 2017 at 7:58 pm //

Kudos to the people of the Province of Saskatchewan for their overwhelming support for their CFL team. Their loyalty and enthusiasm are admirable.
